How Our Practice Works

Mission Functional Medicine (MFM) provides a unique combination of services grounded in a functional approach to care. Functional medicine is an individualized, patient-centered, science- based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. A keystone of that approach is a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical and lifestyle factors and use of that data to develop a personalized treatment plan. This begins with completion of an individualized Functional Medicine Matrix which allows Dr. Lawson to examine body systems, symptoms and risk factors as part of understanding a patient’s presenting issues. Additional time is spent during office visits addressing approaches suggested by information obtained by completing the matrix. Functional laboratory testing will likely be ordered as part of further exploring this functional analysis.

  • The fee for completion of the Functional Medicine Matrix is $550.00.  

This is an annual fee that includes updates of the Functional Medicine Matrix on an on- going basis and access to additional services. While patient is an active member of the practice, Mission Functional Medicine offers FREE access to:

-   Live classes and lectures
-   Recorded premium content on Mission Functional Medicine's Teachable website
- Discounts on supplements (provided by FullScript, our online dispensary)

Insurance Billing

Every visit is billed to insurance.  Copays and deductibles apply, as per your contract with your insurance company.  If a patient does not have insurance or we are out of network, we have reasonable self-pay prices and can provide a super bill, if desired.

Our Visit Process for New Patients

Visit 1

Duration: 30- 45-minute visit which is billed to insurance

  • Collecting history

  • Discussing medical problems

  • Past medical history

  • Past surgical

  • Family history

  • Review of current symptoms

  • Physical exam

 ***A Functional Medicine care plan will not be developed during this first visit.

If you decide you want to proceed and remain in the practice, labs, both traditional and functional, will be ordered and the Functional Medicine fee will be collected.

Subsequent visits

Duration: 30 minutes

Subsequent visits are typically 30 mins (Acute care visits are shorter) and are billed to the patient’s insurance.
